Iran Claims Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
